How Can I Help?

The exact services I offer will differ on a case to case basis depending on the individual's situation and needs, but here are the main areas in which I can help:

Behaviour Consulting.

Solving behavioural problems in a holistic, ethical and LIMA way.

LIMA means “least intrusive, minimally aversive" and describes a trainer or behaviour consultant who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics likely to succeed in achieving a training or behaviour change objective.

Through taking a holistic approach, we will start by looking at the equine's life as a whole as well as a detailed assessment of the antecedents surrounding the behaviour, the function of the behaviour and much more.

Working our way down the "humane hierarchy", we will then construct a behaviour modification plan using force-free and positive reinforcement training where possible.

If you would like, you will also receive a full explanation of the behavioural science and psychology behind any training or behaviour modification strategy used, as well as an assessment of it's ethicality and effectiveness.

Training.

Effective and ethical training using force-free methods of positive reinforcement.

These methods are science-based and supported by psychological research.

Beyond that, we can also work to create a deeper connection and communication between you and your horse whilst we ethically train your horse and work towards your personal goals.

Relationship Enhancing

We've all dreamed of having a relationship with our horses where we feel connected and relaxed in each other's presence, as well as having fun and communicating with one another.

The horse-human relationship goes a lot deeper than just training and behaviour.

We can improve your horse-human relationship to help you both connect, communicate, relax and have fun.

Equine Wellbeing.

By creating a more species appropriate environment for equines in the domestic situation, we can help equines feel safe, avoid unwanted behaviours and maximise welfare.

You may not always be able to provide an optimal natural environment with dietary choices to browse and lots of natural stimulation.

However, small changes can make a big difference and we can enrich and improve your equine's life where possible to improve their overall wellbeing.  This will also decrease stress, increase confidence and cause them to become more relaxed over-all.

“Anna has been an absolute godsend.  She's played a massive role in helping us get our two feral ponies to relax around us so we can take care of them properly.

Thanks to Anna's guidance and patience with the ponies (and me!) we can now get all hooves off the ground and can safely and happily have Grace's hooves trimmed, and we can get May to pick up her feet and allow us to touch her.  All these things would of been unthinkable a year ago.  She has taught me how to stop some unwanted behaviours using only positive reinforcement, force-free training."
